1Less than 2 minutes of security!  Feb 05, 2009 By Shane Lin
There are three dials with 6 positions that form the combination. This means that there is 6^3 possible combinations. Since one does not have to reset the dials for every attempt, one can probably test one combination every second. Which means that a brute-force method of guessing the combination takes slightly less than 2 minutes on average.

A suggested use for the lock is to gift it to someone else and then rob them.

1Waste of money  Aug 14, 2008 By Larry Ausley "Whitewater Kayak Instructor"
This key safe has a big metal bar in the center of the storage space that prevents storage of any but the tiniest of items. I couldn't fit even a single 2009 Subaru key in the safe: the only reason for which I purchased the safe. I also would not advise using the safe outdoors, as advertised. It has no seal around the mouth and also has a drain hole in the bottom, providing no protection from the elements. Though not stated in advertising anywhere, the 3-digit combination (numbers which only go from 1-6) is not user-definable. Sad piece of engineering.

1This would be great if anything actually fit in it!  Aug 19, 2008 By geogirl
I loved the idea of this mini safe, but the design turned out to be terrible. I find it particularly ironic that the product images show money being stored in it, yet there is NO WAY money will fit in it! As the other reviewer mentioned, the locking mechanism does sit in the middle of the inside, though it does not go all the way to the bottom. I figured it would be fine for my purposes because I just put the dollar bills to the side of the metal bar. However, for some unknown reason there are two raised circular holes on each side of the inside bottom of the canister, which means that no matter how you fold money to be placed inside, there is no way to close the lid.

On another note, this item is surprisingly heavy, not to mention much larger than I thought it would be. I'm very disappointed. This was a completely wasted purchase.

5Small Metal Safe Fits My Needs  May 27, 2010 By Lawrence Silver
Because of all of the negative reviews, I nearly decided not to buy this Mini-Safe, but given return policies, I did because it looked like what I wanted and needed. It is. First the casing is hard thick metal and unlike other products on Amazon (GE) which are plastic and easily invaded, this unit, completely metal (save for the wire coating and the combination dials), this fits my needs. All the negative descriptions are true. It only has 6 places on the dials unlike the usual 10 and it is small. Although I was able to get 7 bills into it with one more fold. But that is what I wanted a very small nearly unnoticeable mostly metal safe. It will protect what I want to protect and it is small. The condensation hole at the bottom probably requires that if you have degradable items (paper money) inside you get one of those small plastic sealable bags that electronic parts come in to protect it from the elements. But I am so glad that I wasn't dissuaded by the negative reviews. It is what it is, and what it is, is just what I needed.

3Too tiny...  Aug 21, 2010 By Kyle M. Suehiro "Sound Dude"
This little guy is cute and small but that seems to be it's biggest problem. The stock key for my Ford won't fit inside. Any key with moulded plastic probably won't fit easily or at all. I have a spare key for my car with no plastic but it's still too long to allow the case to close. I need to grind the handle of the key shorter... It's fine for house keys I guess. Also, the cable is pretty thin and doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. It could easily be cut with an average pair of side cutters... Overall, lame. Ps. The combination is factory set so forget picking your own code.
