5Better than the one that comes with the creme brûlée set, well made  Dec 26, 2010 By Chandler
I originally got the lesser quality torch by Bonjour when I got the set that comes with the creme brûlée dishes as a gift. While I liked it, someone who didn't realize I already had a torch got me this for Christmas. Now able to compare after making creme brulees for Christmas with this one, I will be giving me other away. This doe indeed feel and act more "professional".

It's not only better made with heavier metal, you can see when you are getting low on fuel, the torch head is longer so it's safer and produces a better flame, it holds more fuel so you don't have to stop and refill...

...and it came with a superb little cookbook with full color pictures that broadened my use of the tool beyond s'mores and creme brulees. I had never thought of using it for French onion soup before to melt the cheese perfectly over the soup rim, I"d never thought of using it to make a sea scallop gratin that knocks your socks off, brown a meringue in seconds and, more perfectly, tiny individual meringue pies for a very elegant party dessert, roasting peppers and turning jalapeños to chipotles.... It broadened my torch use and torch thinking.

Also it stands on it's own so if you, for example, want to roast a marshmallow and need to set it down and deal with a dripping marshmallow, the hot head is safe and never touches hour counter.

No negatives on this one. It's designed well and I've already used it each weekend in the 3 weeks since it was sent to me... And for 12 creme brulees on Christmas!

Ps I buy my fuel at Wal-Mart or hardware stores

5Does exactly what it is supposed to do!  Jun 03, 2009 By Barbie D
I was concerned about safety (as with any butane products) and making sure it shuts off completely with no chance of accidently igniting. This product has several safety releases you have to maneuver before it will blow a flame, which I think is great! I'm comfortable storing it when not using it, and the flame it throws is absolutely perfect.

5Nice Torch  Dec 28, 2009 By K. Keller
The torch has a nice flame and is easy to operate. It has a continuous "on" switch so you don't have to hold the thumb button down all the time. This is a nice feature for anyone with weaker hands.
This was a Christmas present for my wife. She already used it to make creme brulee and they turned out perfectly.

5Easy Control, Good Quality  Dec 20, 2010 By S. Bolish "sbolish"
After reading several other reviews of various products, I went with this particular model. It turned out to be better than I expected. The lighter works well (sometimes takes 2 or 3 tries to light) but once lit maintains a very steady flame.

A helpful tip... use only raw sugar for making brulee. It will melt easily and not burn. If you use refined sugar, it can burn much more easily.

With this torch, I've made some very good caramelized items without any issues.

5Excellent addition to my kitchen  Oct 23, 2011 By Kikkdogg
I bought this torch after reading several reviews. I own a small bakery and use this torch quite frequently. It is easy to load with butane and provides and nice even flame for a fast and uniform burn. I love it. It cools to the touch quickly. I have very small hands, and my husband has very large hands and this tool fits comfortably in both. It has a nice safety button which makes it very convenient when your finger slips off the go button. I highly recommend the BonJour Creme Brulee Pro Culinary Torch, which certainly is NOT just for Creme Brulee. The possibilities are endless. Thank you for a great product at a ridiculously low price!
